Dr. Jacob Gorm Hansen was awarded the 2009 Roger Needham award for his doctoral thesis "Virtual Machine Mobility with Self-Migration" at a ceremony in Nuremberg, Germany, on April 2nd, 2009. The prize sum is 2,000 EUR, donated by Microsoft Research. Here is the press release.

August 2009

Adam Dunkels was named Top Young Innovator by the MIT Technology Review. Quoting from the Swedish Institute of Computer Science's press release, "Dr Adam Dunkels has been recognized by Technology Review magazine as one of the world’s top innovators under the age of 35 for his work on Internet-connectivity for embedded systems and wireless sensors. Selected from more than 300 nominees by a panel of expert judges and the editorial staff of Technology Review, the TR35 is an elite group of accomplished young innovators who exemplify the spirit of innovation. Their work - spanning medicine, computing, communications, nanotechnology, and more - is changing our world."

October 2009

Gernot Heiser et al. win the ACM SOSP Best Paper Award for their work on "seL4: formal verification of an OS kernel".

Katerina Argyraki et al. win the ACM SOSP Best Paper Award for their work on "RouteBricks: Exploiting Parallelism to Scale Software Routers".

December 2009

Paulo Verissimo has been inducted as an ACM Fellow for contributions to dependable and secure distributed computing.
